  1. School libraries must have changed a lot recently, or perhaps my school was too poor. Although we could go to the library to get access to the computers there weren’t any coding or robitics programs offered except specific classes for those subjects. The library barely even stayed open after class which meant it was difficult to do research at that library or relax and hangout. I hope things change so it’s easier for students to grow, learn, and make connections. I guess that really just depends if the budgets is able to cover such costs.

    • Hi Roxie,

Things were also a lot different for me when I was in school (a very long time ago haha). I think a lot has changed for some school libraries. There definitely are still many out there that are struggling.

  2. Wow, I love the interactive slides! Everything was so informative and aesthetically nice with the visuals. I was thinking how it could even be included onto a school library’s homepage if they have one! I love that there are school libraries out there providing more and more opportunities for the students to learn and engage themselves in various ways. My school back in the day definitely did not have a majority of the services presented in the slides. That’s a whole different issue (e.g. funding) on its own though…

I’ve noticed that hardware or technological devices have been more avaliable and popular at public libraries. It only makes sense that school libraries are also making an effort to provide them for the students. I would be curious to see a large-scale study seeing how much of a positive impact just having these resources and services avaliable can be for a student’s academic, social, and emotional development all throughout primary school to high school. Overall, this is such a fun and interesting community to study! Looks like you have quite a lot of information to work with for your research paper. 🙂

    • Thank you Cynthia! I guess times have changed — at least for some schools! I also wish there were some more studies on this — especially ones based in the U.S. Most of the studies I came across in my research are based in other countries.

  3. Hi Roxie,

The Canva slides with animations is so beautiful and creative. I also loved how yo organized the resources and the references you’ve been using for your research in active links underneath. In addition, It is so interesting the you included something about AI and how it is going to shape school libraries, and libraria jobs from now on. To echo thoughts I have been hearing related to AI, there is a lot of reasonable fear about this new technology being develop for the danger it could pose for people’s jobs. So I wonder how in the librarian world and also as a society, can we best use this tool? And how to teach the kids about how to best use this tool so that is fostering their learning?

    • Hi Mia,
Thank you! That is definitely food for thought on the topic of AI. I am still trying to figure out how I REALLY feel about it. Time will tell with how things develop on it.
